Lincoln Logs

Lincoln Logs

We rarely buy Brennan new toys because he doesn't really need them.  Besides, his grandparents have him covered.  But I have to admit, I have been really sick of playing with Brennan's little school bus and farm, and those are all he's interested in lately because he likes to pretend.  So I couldn't resist when I saw an enormous bucket of Lincoln Logs at Sam's Club the other day.  I had been looking for a new toy that would be fun for both of us, and although I've never played with them before, they looked appealing to me.  There are little figures, a small train and tracks, and lots and lots of logs that can be used to build all kinds of buildings and structures.

Well, I have to say, they are fun, but I have learned a few things about Lincoln Logs:

  1. They hurt when you step on them... and you will step on them.
  2. They just rest on each other, and they don't actually interlock.  This proves to be very frustrating to a 2 1/2 year old who wants to put the horse inside the house and inevitably breaks it.
  3. They are not as fun for a very little person as the train and track that comes with the set.

Overall, they were a great purchase, and I think he will play with them for years.  And I'm glad we have something new to do!
